ForensicsDB was an internal name given to a product originally named as “Soruşturma Dosyalama Sistemi”, the product was developed as an MVP for integrating with the overall Turkish Government’s e-Judicial system called UYAP. The product intended to properly digitise the procurement, management and testing of the evidence collected at the crime scenes. A mobile application was developed using React Native where the initial responders to the crime scene were designated a case, the initial responders would use the mobile app to photograph and document the evidence and a proper forensic team would be formed depending on the nature of the evidence. Forensic scientists would be added/subtracted before dispatch based on the speciality they had, be it blood spatter analysis, fingerprint analysts or someone else. The forensic team would then use their highly specialized photograph equipment to document the crime scene and the evidence would be lodged inside the mobile app and tracked. The evidence then gets dispatched to the appropriate testing department where the laboratory technicians test the evidence and attach their findings to the case that’s assigned to them. Once the evidence has passed all the checks the findings are then available through the UYAP system where the judicial system makes use of them in their proceedings. The forensicsDB also provides intuitive dashboards which display the cases, their designated police stations, crime hotspots etc.
